Amoli Larijani:

JCPOA suffering from ‘security holes’

JCPOA suffering from ‘security holes’

TEHRAN, Jul. 26 (MNA) – Head of the Judiciary has called for ‘fair and realistic’ evaluation of the recent nuclear deal with the west.

Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani who was addressing a meeting of Judiciary high-ranking officials on Sunday, told the meeting that nuclear deal is an issue with national dimensions, in assessment of which one should not resort to irrational means of logic which would go against the grain of national expediencies; “rather, with recourse to fostering solidarity, take steps forward to advancement of national exigencies, effectively using the nuclear deal as material,” emphasized the Judiciary head.

“The west had been specifically recalcitrant in recognizing Iran’s nuclear program and enrichment and centrifuges, antagonizing in the broad daylight the country’s inalienable rights; now those issues are acknowledged, and to say that nuclear deal has brought nothing for Iran would be denial of the realities in place and casting a pessimistic view of the whole imagery,” he demanded.

Ayatollah Amoli Larijani expressed gratitude to all good offices by President Rouhani, the nuclear negotiating team and guidelines of the Leader; “were it not for the heroic and unswerving support of the Leader of the Islamic Republic for nuclear negotiations out of his keenness on securing national interests, the nuclear negotiations would find other destinations than this and the west would not recognize our rights,” he asserted.

“In a fair assessment, it should be said that what has come from the negotiations is the product of the nuclear negotiators’ competence and the country’s available resources, and all would admit that Iran had been negotiating in an atmosphere too overwhelming and formidable,’ he said, “however, Iran had conceded heavy restrictions on its nuclear program, inter alia, the number of centrifuges, R and D scope of activities, and some other restrictions in details; any impartial assessment should, thus, bring into consideration its achievements, notably recognition of Iran’s right to enrichment [by the west] and restrictions,” Amoli Larijani told the meeting.

Head of the Judiciary also called for legal path leading to approval of the deal inside the country, while Parliament and Supreme National Security Council should carefully and patiently examine the deal, effectively “putting into a legal procedure addressing concerns over possible damage by restrictions and ways to relief this damage.”

“Some security holes are matters of concern; the deal in its present form should not give access to security and military sites and centers; any laxity in dealing this hole is far from being pardoned,” he emphasized.

Ayatollah Amoli Larijani however hoped that the solidarity created by the hitting nuclear deal would provide opportunities for people and the government to use for development of the country; he also called on the US officials to “seek to expiate their past mistakes towards Iran and Iranians, with a complete review of their conduct.”
