France crowned at 2015 FIVB; Iran ranks 7th

TEHRAN, Jul. 20 (MNA) – The 2015 FIVB competitions came to a conclusion on Monday with France prevailing over Serbia and the Iranian volleyball squad finishing 7th.

The final day of the FIVB Volleyball World League at the Maracanazinho Arena on July 19 featured two straight-sets victories; France defeated Serbia 3-0 to claim their first world league title while the US upset world champions Poland to win bronze. 

Iran’s national volleyball team which had failed to book a berth in the Final Six of the 2015 Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) World League took the seventh place in the final standing.

The 2015 FIVB final standings include France, Serbia, US, Poland, Brazil and Italy, with the last two teams both claiming the fifth place.

Iran’s Seyed Mohammad Mousavi Eraghi was named among the top blocking performances in the games versus Poland (June 6), US (June 21) and Russia (June 13). 

The 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League is the 26th edition of the annual men's international volleyball tournament which was played from 16 May to 19 July 2015. The tournament featured a record 32 participating countries from 5 confederations. The group 1 final round was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil which will serve as the 1st test event of the 2016 Summer Olympics.
