Fathollah Ommi, Head of Iran’s Aerospace Research Institute broke the news of reviving the air department of the institute after some years of inactivity.
Designing and manufacturing air ambulances is one of the first steps to be taken, Ommi said adding that transporting injured or sick people in a medical emergency is difficult in metropolises as the streets are heavily congested and roads sometimes are packed with travelers.
Also amphibious aircraft is another project of the institute to make it possible for rescue teams to take off and land on both land and water, According to the head of the Institute.
The other project to be undertaken in the institute is designing drones of different purposes to help guarding the borders, extinguishing fires, patrolling sea territories, protecting environment, and rescuing the disaster-stricken people.
He said that the institute supervises the designing and manufacturing the drones using the experience of researchers and forming a consortium with universities.
about the six-seat air taxi under work in the research institute, Ommi promised the completion in less than two years.
