Urmia, Erzurum sign sisterhood agreement 

TEHRAN, Apr. 07 (MNA) – A sisterhood agreement between Iran’s Urmia and Turkey’s Erzurum municipalities have been signed on Monday.

The agreement was signed during the visit of an Iranian delegation from Urmia's municipality to Turkey.

During the meeting with the Iranian delegation, Erzurum mayor Mehmet Sekmen highlighted the mutual friendship between the two countries.

The two mayors stressed promotion of bilateral relations in all arenas and signed an agreement of sisterhood in the presence of media representatives.

Meanwhile, mayor of Urmia Mohammad Hazratpour conferred with Chancellor of Ataturk University in the Erzurum. The two sides expressed interest in expansion of scientific and academic cooperation between the Iranian and Turkish universities.

Erzurum is a historical city in eastern Turkey. It is located at approximately 300 kilometers to Iran’s borders.
