Iran’s science min. urges academic coop. with Oman, Lebanon

TEHRAN, Feb. 24 (MNA) – On the sidelines of a ministerial conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on science and technology, Iranian minister of science, research and technology met with Lebanon and Oman’s ministers of education.

During the meeting, Dr. Farhadi expressed Iran’s readiness to promote comprehensive scientific cooperation including professor and student exchanges, conferences, setting up science and technology Parks and conducting joint research projects.

He underlined that students from all the countries can study in Iran at all levels and areas of science and technology.

Lebanon’s Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Elias N. Bou Saab, while pointing to the talented students in his country, said Lebanon expects Iran to fulfill its promises in the field of science and technology.

Pointing to the previous agreements between Iran and the Lebanese State University, Bou Saab said his country would like private universities to play a role in the academic relations between the two countries as well.

Oman’s Minister of Higher Education Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed al Sarami, for his part, expressed his country’s desire for academic cooperation with Iran, adding that Iran and Oman hold lots of common interests which pave the way to further strengthen the scientific relations between the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology Dr. Mojtaba Shariati presented effective tips on the strategic approaches to improve cooperation.
