EU willing to import Iran gas

TEHRAN, Aug. 09 (MNA) – Iran’s deputy minister for international and commercial affairs has said European countries are willing to import Iran’s gas.

Ali Majedi said that Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz gas field would not fed the EU Nabucco pipeline fully and part of its capacity remained unused, which would be best fed to the full capacity by Iran’s gas to be transferred to the Europe.

Majedi pointed to the capability of Nabucco pipeline and added that other options to transfer gas to Europe were Iraq, Turkey and Syria.

He added that Europe had suffered from the sanctions West imposed upon Iran because it had been excluded from Iran’s gas.

Nabucco gas pipeline transfers gas from Central Asia to the Western Europe.

Iran has the fourth largest oil reserves and the world's largest natural gas reserves in the world. It is one of the leading members of the Organization of Gas Exporting Countries but due to recent year’s sanctions upon the country on Tehran peaceful nuclear program, gas export has been reduced.
