Abyar’s family drama Things Are Closer Than They Appear in the Mirror will be presented at another international appearance, this time in Europe.
One of the producers of the feature film Mohammad Hossein Qassemi announced the movie won as the best feature film at the 37th Festival International de Films de Femmes in France, being awarded two prizes.
The Créteil International Women’s Film Festival, also known as “Films de Femmes”, is an annual event in Créteil, Paris, France founded by Jackie Buet in 1978 to showcase the directing talents of female filmmaker. The 37th edition of this festival was held 13-27 March, 2015.
Things Are Closer Than They Appear in the Mirror narrates the story of a pregnant woman named Leila who is grappling with trivial and insignificant problems in life which appear bigger for her.
The movie was named as one of the First Films at the 31st Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran.
Abyar’s film was also screened at several international festivals such as the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in China, the 30th Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, the 37th Festival International Films de Femmes in France, and the 2014 Middle East Now International Film Festival in Italy.
The drama took part in the First Russian Silver Horse Filmfest and was screened twice to the Russian audiences in different classes of queries.
Born in Tehran, Narges Abyar studied Persian Literature and received her B.A. in this field.
She has penned some 30 story and fiction books for children, young adults and adults. She has also made several short and feature-length documentaries and one fiction.
