Salehi, Moniz to initiate N-talks in Lausanne

TEHRAN, Mar. 15 (MNA) – Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi and US Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz will hold meeting today as part of the 5+1 talks on Iran’s nuclear program.

Iran and the US will resume fresh round of talks on Iran’s nuclear program today, March 15, as the negotiators of the two countries arrived in Lausanne, Switzerland.

As the first part of nuclear talks in Lausanne, Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi will reportedly meet and hold talks with US Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz at 14:00 local time (16:30 Tehran time).

Iran’s Deputy FMs Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi as well as Spokesman of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi will also be present at the meeting.

The exact time for the negotiations between Iran’s FM Mohammad Javad Zarif and his US counterpart John Kerry in Lausanne is yet to be confirmed.

Iran’s negotiating team headed by Iranian FM Mohammad Javad Zarif left Tehran for Switzerland today to hold fresh round of nuclear talks in Beau-Rivage Palace hotel in Lausanne.

Started since November 2013, nuclear negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 seek to ensure the peaceful character of Iran's nuclear activities in return for an unraveling of Western economic sanctions.

Having missed a November accord for a deadline, the two sides are now looking to reach a framework agreement in March and a final long-term deal by June 30.
