IAEA confirms Iran’s non-diversion in nuclear activities

TEHRAN, Mar. 02 (MNA) – Director General of the IAEA has said the agency confirms Iran's non-diversion of its declared nuclear activities under the IAEA safeguards.

Yukiya Amano made the remarks in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors meeting.

He maintained that the Agency would continue its monitoring and verification of the Joint Plan of Action between Iran and the 5+1.

While noting Iran has not yet offered the required explanations for resolving the remaining issues within the framework of cooperation, Amano stressed the IAEA was willing to expedite the process.

He also referred to his meeting with Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif last month, adding both Iran and the IAEA agreed on the significance of the continuation of cooperation between the two.

The most recent quarterly report released on Jan. 20, 2015 by the (IAEA) on Iran's nuclear program confirmed Iran has complied with its NPT obligations and honored its commitment not to expand its atomic activities while negotiations are underway between the Islamic Republic and the six states.

Iran’s transparency and continued compliance with the resolutions of the nuclear program reveals its serious willingness for the nuclear negotiations with the six states to come to an ultimate agreement.
