Iran, Iraq relations vast and deep: Zarif

TEHRAN, Feb. 25 (MNA) – Iranian FM, described Iran-Iraq relations as 'very especial' and commended the efforts by officials to reinforce and expand bilateral ties.

Mohammad Javad Zarif, arrived in Baghdad on Tuesday evening and met with his Iraqi counterpart, Ibrahim al-Jaafari and Prime Minister Heidar al-Ebadi.

Upon his arrival at Baghdad airport, Iranian official, while pointing to vast and deep relations between Tehran and Baghdad, said “this is why we need to exchange political views regularly.”

Noting the common threats of extremism, terrorism, and sectarianism, Zarif stressed the need for cooperation between the two nations. 

Iranian FM, regarding the consular relations of two countries, asserted that he was trying to facilitate the visa issues and pointed to MoUs being signed during his visit.

He added Iran would discuss all ways of comprehensive cooperation with Iraqi officials and would inform them on the latest international issues.
