In a Tuesday meeting with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, President Rouhani noted Tehran and Delhi could facilitate the development of the two counries as well as the region by promoting cooperation in various fields including ports, north-south corridor, petrochemical and steel industries, pharmaceuticals, and medical equipment.
Rouhani expressed Iran’s readiness for closer cooperation with India’s private sector in increasing Chabahar Port capacity to receive larger ships, the implementation of Chabahar-Zahedan railroad, and turning Jask into one of the most important oil-exporting ports.
Ajit Doval, for his part, maintained that Delhi sought to further its ties with Tehran, adding “fortunately, President Rouhani is fully aware of the outline as well as the details concerning bilateral relations which helps prove to the world and people of both nations Iran and India have the capacity to reach higher levels of cooperation between one another.”
He also commended Iran’s performance in developing Chabahar Port and transforming Jask into an industrial zone, noting India was interested in participating and investing in these regions’ projects.
Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Kumar Doval arrived in Tehran on Feb. 9 morning to discuss security issues with Iranian officials.
Doval’s visit came upon an official invitation by Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
