Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is spending his African tour, arrived in Burundi on Tuesday afternoon.
He made the remarks in a meeting with his Burundian counterpart Laurent Kavakure. In his meeting with Kavakure, Zarif said his visit was aimed at boosting bilateral ties and regional cooperation between the two countries.
Burundian Foreign Minister Laurent Kavakure, while recalling the previously signed agreements between the two countries, called for continuation and promotion of educational, economic, industrial and scientific cooperation between Tehran and Bujumbura.
Pointing to the activities of terrorist groups in Africa, Kavakure underlined the need for bilateral as well as collective cooperation against terrorism.
In his official visit to the African countries, Zarif has already traveled to Kenya and Uganda respectively and will travel from Burundi to Tanzania for the final leg of his tour to the continent.
