Iran to launch largest gas-producing project by March

TEHRAN, Feb. 01 (MNA) – Managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) has said the biggest project to step up the country’s gasoline production capacity will be launched by March 20.

Abbas Kazemi informed Mehr News on the latest updates of the gasoline-producing project in Esfahan Oil Refining Company (EORC) and said, “this project is capable of producing about 3 million liters of gasoline with Euro IV standards per day.”

According to Kazemi, currently all stages of construction, installation and commissioning of various process units of the project have been completed.

Kazemi asserted that due to sanctions, Iran was unable to purchase from abroad the special catalyst that was suitable for this kind of gasoline project; “however, with the efforts of domestic manufacturers, the design and production of this catalyst began sometime in September and we predict it will be loaded in this gasoline-producing unit in a few weeks,” he said.

It has been predicted that with the launch of this project, EORC will become self-sufficient in producing octane enhancers.

The gasoline-making complex at Esfahan Oil Refinery Company (EORC) is comprised of three process units including Naphtha Hydrotreater Unit, Continuous Catalytic Reformer (CCR), and Isomerization.
