Appearing on a live TV program on IRIB Channel 1 on Saturday, Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi maintained that Iran’s nuclear case was not a technical and legal case, but rather a ‘political’ one, solvable only through a ‘political will.’
He referred to the tenth and last round of nuclear talks before the seven-month extension in Vienna on Nov. 18, noting that the two sides had almost come to a complete agreement then but something happened that caused the other side to retreat.
“A few days after that, the Prime Minister of Zionist regime Benjamin Netanyahu declared that he had been behind the failure in reaching an agreement by Nov. 24, and John Kerry, too, had stated the US was in complete coordination with Israel,” he said, while trying not to get into much detail.
Salehi asserted that the other party found the continuation of crisis to the best of their interests, while Iran had showed enough flexibility as long as its national interests and nuclear industry would not be harmed; “they still insisted on their excessive demands, however,” he said.
“Currently, the discussions are on the issue of enrichment and the annual uranium production,” said Salehi, adding that Iran has agreed to keep its enrichment percentage at 5 percent, as currently there was no need for a higher percentage.
Salehi also announced that AEOI was to hold a great exhibition of achievements in the field of laser on Thursday January 15, inviting experts and researchers to visit the exhibition to witness the Islamic Republic’s great accomplishments in laser technology.
