The flight was opened jointly by Aseman (Sky) Airlines and a travel agency in Iran and Malaysia, on Thursday evening, Dec. 4. The first flight of the line left Tehran to Kuala Lumpur on Thursday and flew back from Malaysia to Iran on Saturday, Dec. 6.
In addition to Iranian passengers, a group of tourists from Malaysia were also aboard the flight who are scheduled to go from Tehran to Iraqi city of Karbala and later to Mashhad.
Opening ceremony was held in Kuala Lumpur by new Malaysian Ambassador to Tehran Raja Nowshiravan Zainul Abedin and Iranian acting Ambassador to Malaysia Majid Saffar Parast along with a number of officials from the two countries attending the event.
Malaysian ambassador expressed support for development of tourism relations between the two countries and promised better services for tourists who would travel in this way.
Iran’s acting ambassador to Malaysia pointed to the $1.1 billion worth of economic exchange between the two countries as well as large number of Iranian students in Malaysia and stated “a new flight between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur indicates developing relations between the two countries; the Islamic Republic expects Malaysian government to take measures to improve these relations.”
