Sanctions must be removed at once: Senior MP

TEHRAN, Nov. 15 (MNA) – Chairman of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission says all sanctions should be removed at once.

In an interview to Mehr News, Alaeddin Boroujerdi pointed to Iran and 5+1 talks and asserted that Iran has been honest in nuclear issues and has implemented agreements, and emphasized that the country expected practical measures taken in return.

“The fact that recent negotiations, including Muscat talks, failed to bear any results is due to extra demands of the US and unfair sanctions they insist not to be removed all at once,” said Boroujerdi.

Senior Parliamentarian dubbed the idea of gradual removal of sanctions as illogical and highlighted that “all sanctions should be removed all at once, as they are on the pretext of nuclear issue; therefore, when the issue is solved by a mutual agreement, existence of sanctions would be of no sense.”

He also expressed hope that in the latest round of talks in Vienna, the Americans would be more rational or the talks would fail.

In response to a question about chances for extension of JPOA interim deal, Boroujerdi said it was possible and added that “even within such an agreement part of sanctions should be removed.”

Meanwhile, he asserted that another interim agreement would not be likely if more sanctions are imposed on Iran.

Chairman of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission described the ‘red lines’ as most important issue to the MPs and stated that Supreme National Security Council has been in charge for negotiations and the Parliament watches closely the talks to prevent any possible mistakes.
