IPC president receives Iran Medalists Book

TEHRAN, Oct. 09 (MNA) – President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has received a book covering Iranian Paralympic medalists.

Dr. Fatemeh Rakhshani, deputy-president of National Paralympic Committee told Iran's Sports Federation for the Disabled (IRISFD) Public Relations office that she and Mr. Siamand Rahman, Iran’s brilliant disabled athlete and gold medalist, attended the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the IPC, held in Germany, and its special sessions to draft IPC’s four-year plan.

Rakhshani, who is also head of IPC Women Committee, added that the sessions helped establish IPC’s grand strategy. “Among the most important issues addressed were finding sustainable financial resources for the IPC’s national members, Olympic and Paralympic joint ventures, and facilitation of medical ranking of athletes,” she said.

“Another important issue was sports development and addition of a number of athletics to competitions,” Rakhshani said.

“On the sidelines of the main event, we met Sir Philip Craven, from Britain and presented him with a two-volume book featuring Iran’s Paralympic medalists, which has newly been printed by Iran’s Paralympic Committee,” she said.

“Sir Craven expressed gratitude for the preparation of bilingual (Persian and English) book as ‘a laudable job by Iran’s Paralympic Committee’,” Rakhshani added.
