Rouhani expresses concern over Gaza condition

TEHRAN, July 22 (MNA) – Iran’s president has expressed concern over humanitarian conditions going on in Gaza Strip.

Hassan Rouhani, who was receiving the new Iceland ambassador to Tehran, pointed to the tough conditions of besieged people of Gaza. “Today, Gazans suffer from paucity of medical aides and food,” Rouhani said, adding that the international community should know that all people share the same destiny.

Rouhani also said that “if we remain indifferent to the plight of others, we will have no right to expect others to express sympathy in our own plights either.”

New Iceland ambassador to Tehran, Gunnar Pálsson, presented his credentials to President Rouhani and conveyed warm greetings of his country's president to Rouhani, saying that Iceland would seek closer bilateral and international ties with Iran, although the two are geographically distant countries.

He pointed to the recent developments in the Middle East and emphasized that his country would spare no effort to expand relations with Iran.

Iran's Foreign Minsiter Mohammad Javad Zarif, also met with the new Iceland ambassador Monday night.

In the meeting with Gunnar Pálsson, Zarif hoped for expansion of relations between Tehran and Reykjavik and asserted that all capacities of both sides should be used for that.
