Iran would respond ‘properly’ to lies on its human rights record

TEHRAN, June 24 (MNA) – Iran’s FM ha said Iran would properly respond to lies spread by western sources on about its human rights record.

Mohammad Javad Zarif, who was speaking in the sidelines of coordination meeting of Judiciary Human Rights Headquarters today, said that the west should be deprived of its pretexts to mount propaganda against Iran’s human rights record.

“The Judiciary and the Islamic system have cooperated to prepare the grounds for the country to implement its novel views on human rights in international community,” said Zarif, and that “I represent the foreign ministry as a member of the Headquarters to review measures taken by the ministry on human rights.”

Commenting on western propaganda on Iran’s human rights record, Zarif said that “as a system based on Islamic teachings, Iran seriously works to protect its citizens’ rights and as an important international issue.”

He believed that Iran should prepare ‘proper’ response to lies on its human rights record.

Mohammad Javad Larijani the head of the Headquarters believed that human rights was a positive terrain for Islamic Republic’s conduct, and emphasized upon the ‘active role and proper exploiting the possibilities of the situation.’

Larijani lavished praise on Zarif as the special guest of the meeting. “Apart from his position, Dr. Zarif is one of few experts on human rights. I have the honor of close cooperation with him in the issue,” said Larijani.

Larijani also assessed Ahmad Shaheed’s report as ‘biased and politically seeking specific objectives.’ “We believe that Shaheed’s report is not professionally worked out. Any international reporter on human rights should remain committed to norms of his or her profession,” he added.
