JASK, June 18 (MNA) – Iran holds national conference on developing Makran and Jask coasts; to continue for 2 days.

This is the 2nd conference on development of Makran coasts held in line with the Leader’s guidelines to make the best usage of naval capabilities.

Iran’s Navy Commander-in-chief said that according to Leader’s remarks, “there are great capacities in the sea to be used properly.”

“To fulfill leader’s recommendations, Iran’s navy has started to take important measures in Makran since 2008 to construct naval bases and necessary infrastructure for development of the region,” said Sayyari.

Also the cabinet decided to announce Jask, a coastal city in Hormozgan province, as a free zone.

Gen. Habibollah Sayyari had already said that Makran coastal waters were the golden gate for Iran and the most important water border.

Parliament speaker Ali Larijani also attended the conference where he addressed the meeting.

He pointed to international developments and held that the US and West was not honest enough about terrorism and did not oppose it. “Such attitudes lead to spread of anarchy in the region including terrorism in sea and land,” said Larijani.

“Last three decades experiences in Middle East show that the region is a highly tense, which contributes to military and security races in addition to greedy economic demands.

Larijani added that “Iran is located in a region which connects 30 countries which adds to its defense and security importance.”
