Shiite cleric says fighting terrorism a mandatory issue

TEHRAN, June 14 (MNA) – Shiite grand Ayatollah Sistani has issued a religious decree calling public for joining campaign against terrorism; it is called Jihad al-Kifaya.

The decree came on Saturday from Ayatollah Sistani's office. This is the second such fatwa within few days. Sistani had already issued a fatwa that fighting against terrorism was a mandatory duty for all.

On Wednesday Shiite cleric called for unity among all of the country’s political factions against the militants.

The al-Qaedeh-linked group, ISIS Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant [(written also as Syria in the acronym)], occupied some cities and Iraqi army forces abandoned their posts and residents had to leave their homes.

The militants have also managed to launch attacks in the capital city Baghdad and in other parts Iraq but the Iraqi army did not let them advance yet.
