French minister says resolved eliminate sanctions on agriculture

TEHRAN, May 28 (MNA) – French Minister of Agriculture Stéphane Le Foll has said France is resolved to ‘tackle the sanctions’ hurdles on agriculture.’

Mahmoud Hojjati, who is in France, met with his French counterpart in French Ministry of Agriculture, and they discussed bilateral cooperation in agriculture.

Le Foll said that this was for the first time that ministers of agriculture met in last 35 years. He also expressed hopes that this would be a turning point in both countries’ agricultural relations.

Le Foll added that his government was resolved to expand ties with Iran. “We are resolved to tackle the major hurdles, which are due to sanctions on Iran’s agriculture sector,” the minister said.

“Agriculture should not be hit by sanctions. I would ensure you that I guarantee the implementation of decisions made in the session,” he added.

Hojjati cited seed production, cattle farming, production of veterinary vaccines, and related industries as sectors where Iran and France would cooperate.

The meeting decided to establish a joint work-group to address the details of the meeting. Hojjati invited Le Foll to visit back Tehran, which the French minister accepted. “To visit Iran and its agricultural capacities is a wish for me, with visiting Iran’s historical sites as my dream,” Le Foll told Hojjati.
