Iranian experts develop identifier kit

TEHRAN, May 20 (MNA) – Iran’s genetic specialists have developed a kit to identify humans using body parts.

Dr. Sirous Zeinali, the scientific secretary of 1st International and 13th National Iranian Genetic Congress told Mehr News that the developed kit had extensive applications in forensic medicine, police, and genetic laboratories. “Currently, profiling kit manufactured by the US Company ABI called Identifier. The Kowsar Biotechnology Co. has developed a kit very similar to the US product, with the difference that the domestic kit does not need any primer or colors, and have more identifying locations compared to the foreign model,” he added.

“The kit could help identification of the individuals using blood, hair, saliva, and other biological samples, commonly used in identifying accident victims, criminals, family tree conundrums, and other cases,” he emphasized.

“The kit called RizFiler is capable of proliferation of very small and contaminated samples,” he said.

The first international and 13th national Iranian genetic congress is held in international hall of Shahid Beheshti University.
