The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran told the meeting that “if we are to avoid the error of judgment in women’s issues, we should abandon the Western-promoted discourse, which has been almost trite,” and that “in women’s issues, we should eschew secondary issues. The issue of female employment is such an issue.”
Ayatollah Khamenei believed that the important issue was to investigate factors which damage the peace of mind of women at home. “If women do not feel secure and at peace at home, they could not succeed in their maternal roles of managing family. This is the main issue,” said the Leader.
He also believed that women’s issue was integral to the issue of family and any dislodging of these two would lead to the misunderstanding of the ways of treating the ills of the family and society.
