Afkham dubs Ban Ki-moon human rights report on Iran null, void

Afkham dubs Ban Ki-moon human rights report on Iran null, void

TEHRAN, March 13 (MNA) – Iran’s foreign ministry’s spokeswoman has dubbed a report by UN secretary general Ban ki-moon about human rights in Iran as null and void.

Marzieh Afkham said that “Ban Ki-moon’s report to OHCHR – Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights – about Islamic republic of Iran is all null and void with no legal proof influenced by political views over human rights.”

She held that abusing human rights issue for political purposes against independent countries is disproved and added that “although in the report some good improvements in Iran are mentioned as well but like many other false reports about Iran by western countries there are many unauthentic points, that all proves their sources and goals are similar and the same resources are used for the reports.”

Afkham expressed regret that in the report capital punishment for drug trafficking was regarded as human rights abuse while the Islamic Republic of Iran suffers great human and financial losses fighting international drug traffickers but is accused unjustly and on purpose.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran acts in accordance to Islamic law and country’s constitution and is firm at pursuing its citizen’s rights; Iran emphasizes that ‘human rights’ should be an issue to make nations closer and should not be a factor to divide the nations ,” maintained Afkham.
