DOE to draft 5-year plan of waste management

TEHRAN, March 4 (MNA) – The head of Department of Environment has said the Department will draft a 5-year waste management plan for all provinces.

Masoumeh Ebtekar, who was speaking in the ceremony held for signing of agreement to implement the Green Project - Clean Beach project in DOE, told Iran’s state news agency IRNA that the central pivot of the agreement was to collect and manage waste. “Waste is a crucial issue worthy of attention of the officials, and a good plan should be drafted to manage waste,” Ebtekar said. “With this in mind, we decided to draft a 5-year waste management plan for all provinces with priority of Northern provinces,” she added.

“Beginning today, we will have sessions with provincial governors of northern coastal provinces, and in April 21 2014, which is the Earth Day, we continue to hold sessions,” she asserted.

“The signing of the agreement is important since it integrates all stakeholders and responsible bodies in waste management,” Ebtekar was quoted to say. “The highest official in province is the governor, so, they could be the best parties to the agreements,” she believed.
