Iran ambassador, Putin’s representative discuss Syria

TEHRAN, Dec. 25 (MNA) – Iran’s ambassador to Moscow has met with Russian president special envoy to discuss Syrian crisis.

Mehr News reported that Iran’s Mahdi Sanaei and Russia’s Michael Bogdanov discussed developments in Middle East, especially recent Syrian conditions and Geneva II conference.

Bugdanov pointed to the US opposition to Iran’s presence at the conference and reiterated the importance of Iran’s presence for a better result in Geneva II conference.

Sanaei asserted that whether Iran attended the Geneva II or not, the Islamic Republic had always called for a diplomatic solution for the crisis in Syria and disapproved of any violent transition of power.
