Larijani assesses EU delegation action as ‘absurd, surreptitious’

TEHRAN, Dec. 22 (MNA) – Iran’s Parliament speaker has described the EU parliamentary delegation action as ‘absurd and surreptitious.’

Mehr News reported that Ali Larijani addressed the issue of EU delegation meeting in Greece embassy with Nasrin Sotoudeh and Jafar Panahi.

“Since a long time ago, an EU delegation demanded that they visit Iran, which was a positive issue in terms of improving Iran’s parliamentary relations with other countries,” he added and that “Parliament and the foreign ministry agreed to their visit to Iran, and what Mr. Aqamohammadi told about conditions for their visit was not the case.”

“They should have informed the Iranian side their agenda and their agenda would be agreed or disagreed,” said the parliament speaker. “The diplomatic conventions rules that they should observe the regulations, and their action was absurd,” he added.

“Naturally they visited Iranian officials and no one would demand their visit. Our officials should examine the case carefully in expressing any criticism of the issue in order to avoid humiliation,” Larijani told the Parliament open session.
