Zarif to host meeting with members of Majlis foreign policy committee

TEHRAN, Nov. 17 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will host a meeting with MPs sitting on the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee on Sunday night.

The meeting will fall within regular meetings between members of the parliamentary committee and the foreign minister, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Saturday.

The meeting comes after high-profile nuclear talks between Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) in Geneva on November 6-8.

Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, the parliamentary committee rapporteur, said in the meeting the MPs will discuss the pros and cons of the nuclear talks in Geneva with Zarif and his deputies.  He also said the sides will exchange views about Iran’s foreign policy.

Naqavi Hosseini said no question will be asked from the minister because according to parliamentary rules questions from ministers are raised in related committees.

He added that Zarif had to attend the parliamentary committee on Tuesday but since he is going to visit Italy on Tuesday the meeting will be held at another date.
