Shariatmadari appointed vice president for executive affairs

TEHRAN, Oct. 9 (MNA) – In a decree issued on Tuesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani appointed former commerce minister Mohammad Shariatmadari as vice president for executive affairs.

Shariatmadari served as commerce minister from 1997 to 2005 in the cabinet of former president Mohammad Khatami. He was one of the candidates for the 2013 presidential election. However, he withdrew in May 2013.
