Damask rose festival in NW Iran

OSKU, Jul. 05 (MNA) – The annual festival of harvesting damask rose in Onsorud-Osku, East Azarbaijan province, was held on Friday. Damask rose (Rosa damascena Mill) is a widely cultivated flower throughout Iran. The rose water produced from damask roses is applied in pharmaceutical and perfumery industries.

These apricot-orange pendant, bell-shaped flowers are native to Iran, Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Himalayan foothills. 'Imperialis', literally "of the emperor", refer to the large circle of golden flowers, reminiscent of an emperor's crown.
