TEHRAN, June 30 (MNA) – Iranian discus thrower Abbas Samimi said on Wednesday he tries to improve his record in the third stage of the Asian grand prix in Manila, capital of the Philippines, on July 1.

In his talks with Mehr, Samimi said he has faced a technical problem, linking it to a severe spasm in his shoulders.

Samimi improved his own and Iran's record by 1.57m in the first stage in Bangkok, capital of Thailand, last Wednesday, setting a 64.17m record and his teammate Sajjad Moradi took a silver medal in 1,500m running race.

Samimi and Moradi won two colorful medals in the second stage of Asian GP in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Sunday.

The thrower snatched the glittering gold with a 63.77m throw and Moradi finished runner-up to a Saudi runner as he clocked 3min 41.74sec.

Samimi won four golds in the previous edition, winning the title and a purse of 12,000 dollars.
