TEHRAN June 30 (MNA) -– The construction of the biggest and first standard museum of the country will begin in Khorasan Province next month and will last four years.

Morteza Chupankareh, deputy education of Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization in Khorasan Province, said that the construction of the museum would start within 30 to 40 days.


The construction will last four years and some five billion rials have been earmarked for it. The museum will be built in Koh-e Sangi Park in Mashhad with 12,000 square meters foundation and in six stories.


Chupankareh said that the museum will display the complete history and culture of Khorasan and all the works in other museums throughout the country will be collected there.


On the antiquity of the artifacts on display, he said there are stones from "Kashf Rud" (river) which date to 800,000 to one million years.


History, archeology, sciences, traditional arts, research department, sociology and other new departments are some of the sectors of the museum, according to Chupankareh.


The design of the museum is based on "Edifice of Sun" (Kalat Naderi) in Khorasan Province.     


About the "Park Koh-e Sangi", where the museum will be constructed in this area, he said this park is located in the south of the city of Mashhad and as Imam Reza (AS) had stayed here for a short period of time, it has a significant religious and historical significance. In recent years, the park has turned into a big park and pilgrims go there to visit it in droves. The museum could be regarded as the best place to introduce the history and culture of Khorasan.
