TEHRAN June 29 (MNA) -– Iran and Italy are to cooperate on building a tunnel as part of a water transfer project that will transport water from Solkan Dam to Anar and Rafsanjan plains.

Two Italian companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with an Iranian company for the construction of a 56-kilometer tunnel from Solkan Dam to Anar and Rafsanjan plains in a ceremony attended by Energy Minister, Habibollah Bitaraf, and the Italian Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.

 

The total cost of the project is predicted to hit $530 million, of which $140 million are projected to be the cost of digging a tunnel through the Sannandaj-Sirjan-Zagros portion of the Zagros Mountains.
