TEHRAN June 29 (MNA) -– Iranian cooperatives will export dried fruits and hand-woven carpets to the U.K. and Italy.

Also the International Union of Cooperatives will act as a bridge to transfer the experience of Britain cooperatives in the fields of banking and insurance to cooperatives in the Islamic Republic.


Conferring with the Chairman of the International Union of Cooperatives as well as the head of Britain’s Union of Cooperatives, General Secretary of Iran’s Cooperative Chamber Mohammad Reza Ramazani called for further expansion of relations between Iranian and British cooperatives particularly in the banking and insurance fields.   


Ramazani said that the cooperative sector plays a crucial role in macroeconomic decisions made in the country reinforcing its influence through different councils.


Pointing to the Fourth Five-Year Development Plan, he said some sectors including banking and insurance systems are to be partially ceded to the cooperative sector within this plan.


He stressed that Iran is eager to activate its cooperative agents in foreign countries and strengthen its exports through cooperatives.


In this meeting, the Chairman of International Union of Cooperatives also expressed eagerness for the involvement of Iranian cooperatives at an international cooperative exhibition being held in Beijing, China, saying it was a positive move.
