Opponents seek to impede subsidy reform plan: intelligence minister

TEHRAN, Sept. 29 (MNA) – Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi has said those who have been involved in the post-election unrest seek to thwart the subsidy reform plan.

The subsidy reform plan is set to go into effect in the current Iranian month of Mehr (Sept. 23-Oct. 22). The plan envisages elimination of subsidies for fuel and some other basic goods and services.

“After the imposition of the international sanctions against us, certain groups based in the country and out of the country have plotted to thwart the subsidy reform plan,” Moslehi said.

“Some seditionists are behind the plot and seek to prevent the success of the plan,” he emphasized.

The intelligence minister did not identify any specific group.
