MP dismisses claim subsidy reform plan will eradicate poverty

TEHRAN, Sept. 21 (MNA) -- MP Ali Adyani-Rad has dismissed claims that poverty will be eradicated in the society with the implementation of the subsidy reform plan.

Officials have no control over the ups and downs of economy so they cannot say execution of the plan will totally eradicate poverty, Adyani-Rad told the Mehr News Agency on Tuesday.

It is too optimistic to say so, added Adyani-Rad, a member of the Majlis Energy Commission.

Moreover, MP Fazel Mousavi has also questioned President Ahmadinejad’s remarks that people’s economic condition will improve from the first days of implementing the reform plan.

No economic expert would confirm such a statement, Mousavi told the MNA on Tuesday.

The MP went on to say that even lawmakers are not fully informed about execution of the plan.

Mousavi also criticized the delay in the implementation of the plan, saying people’s living condition must be taken seriously.

Ahmadinejad had previously said the plan would be executed in the second half of the year which started on March 21.
