Sinaii tells cultural officials to trust filmmakers

TEHRAN, Sept. 21 (MNA) -- Veteran cineaste Khosrow Sinaii exhorted officials to trust filmmakers at the award ceremony of Iran’s Resistance, Revolution and Sacred Defense International Film Festival on Monday.

“Trust our filmmakers, they love our people. Do not waste young filmmakers’ energy as you did with my generation,” Sinaii implored at the ceremony.

During the ceremony at Vahdat Hall, Sinaii won the Best Director Award for his “The Monster Inside”, which was made 25 years ago.

“When I made the film, the officials at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance asked me to change the costumes of the film’s actresses and cut its running time from 130 minutes to 90 minutes,” he added.

Sinaii also lamented over the atmosphere of mistrust which prevails in society as well as the state of art in Iran adding that he aims to highlight the power of consciousness in this film.

The festival also paid tribute to cineaste Mohammad Hossein Haqiqi for several films he has made on the Iran-Iraq War (1980-88) which is known as the Sacred Defense in Iran.

Haqiqi expressed his appreciation to his family and friends and he granted his award to the Film Museum of Iran emphasizing “Sacred Defense cinema should be honored.”

Winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the festival which will screen 186 films from 61 countries from September 20 to 24.
