Probable mission for Zob Ahan in ACL

TEHRAN, Sept. 21 (MNA) -- Iranian Zob Ahan may rise to the AFC Champions League (ACL) semi-final round if they probably beat South Korean Pohang Steelers on Wednesday.

Zob Ahan beat the Steelers 2-1 in the ACL quarter-final first leg in Isfahan. The team is scheduled to face the Koreans at the Steelyard Stadium in Pohang.

“We deservedly defeated the Steelers in the first leg. Zob Ahan can beat them in South Korea. We can win the title,” Zob Ahan striker Mohammad Ghazi said.

Pohang Steelers, of course, has a good memory of this stage. They entered the second leg with a 3-1 deficit against Bunyodkor a year ago and defeated the big-spending Uzbeks 4-1 on home soil and advanced 5-4 on aggregate en route to winning the continental title.

Pohang Steelers’ temporary coach Park Chung-hyun believes that his players’ experience will stand them in good stead.

“I accept that we weren’t very fast, but if you come to Korea you’ll see a better tempo from us. Be sure that in the second leg, especially in the second half, you’ll see a superb performance from Pohang.”
