TEHRAN, Sept. 20 (MNA) -- Mehdi Monem will hold a photo exhibition on the Iran-Iraq war (1980-88) at the Autumn Gallery of the Iranian Artists Forum on September 21.

Entitled “War Victims; Ambassadors of Peace”, the exhibit will be held on the occasion of Sacred Defense Week which is celebrated annually in Iran, and begins on the anniversary of the first day of the Iran-Iraq war (known as the Sacred Defense in Iran) on September 22.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) honored Monem during a ceremony in May 2010 in Tehran. His photos were described as “humanistic and unbiased artworks on the concept of war” by the ICRC officer in Tehran, John Strick Van Linschoten.

Monem also published his photos in a book entitled “War Victims” in 2009, in which he portrays civilians victimized during the Iran-Iraq war (1980-88).

Previously, he described his collection of photos in his book as “a message on behalf of all civilians who have been victimized by wars around the world” by means of which he aims to convey a global message of peace.
