Judiciary will deal with Howo truck importers

TEHRAN, Sept. 15 (MNA) – Tehran Prosecutor General Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi has said the Judiciary will definitely deal with the importers of Chinese Howo trucks.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Dolatabadi made the remarks when asked about the Howo truck owners who lodged complaints after they were told they were not allowed to drive on some of the country’s roads because their trucks lack the standard braking system.

He stated that it would not be possible to confiscate 15,000 Howo trucks because 15,000 people would become unemployed.

However, he said since this is a national issue, it should be pursued by the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Judiciary will absolutely deal with the importers of such trucks.

On Sunday, the braking system of a Howo truck trailer failed and it then smashed into a car, a bus, and a house in Hamedan Province, leaving 15 people dead and a number of others injured. The bus also rolled onto some cars.
