Zob Ahan defeats Pohang in ACL quarterfinal

ISFAHAN, Sept. 15 (MNA) -- Iran’s Zob Ahan defeated Pohang Steelers from South Korea in Isfahan in the first leg of the quarterfinal phase of the AFC Champions League on Wednesday.

Igor Castro gave a lead the Iranian team in the 18th minute. The Brazilian striker received the ball into the six-yard box and put it in the back of the net.

Pohang equalized the match 11 minutes into second half. Brazilian Mota opened the goal with a long-range shot.

Zob Ahan put the visiting team under pressure and could have gone ahead but the strikers didn’t take advantage of their opportunities.
In the 75th minute, Castro was brought down in the penalty area by Jung Hong-Youn and Mehdi Rajabzadeh put the hosts ahead once again.
Zob Ahan will play Pohang Steelers in the second leg next week in South Korea.
