Iran leapfrogs eight places on FIFA rankings

(MNA), Sept. 15 -- Iran climbed eight places in the latest world rankings issued by FIFA on Wednesday.

Afshin Ghotbi’s team is fourth among the Asian teams in the rankings, behind Australia, Japan and South Korea, respectively.

Iran moved up to 57th in the wake of good performances in friendlies against Armenia, China and South Korea.
The World Cup champion Spain stayed at the top of FIFA’s world rankings, and Germany and England have risen after back-to-back wins in European Championship qualifiers.
