100 linked to assault on Karroubi house identified

TEHRAN, Sept. 13 (MNA) – 100 people who had gathered in front of former presidential candidate Mahdi Karroubi’s home on September 9 have been identified, Tehran police chief Hossein Sajedinia announced on Monday.

Certain elements attacked the opposition leader’s home just hours before the beginning of the major rallies to mark the International Qods Day on September 10.

Some sources had claimed that the Basij forces affiliated to the IRGC had organized the attack, a claim which was rejected by IRGC.

“Their names have been submitted to judicial authorities,” Sajedinia said.

He added none of them have been arrested yet, and police are waiting for a judicial authority’s permission in this regard.

Some non-official websites had reported that these elements were affiliated to one of state officials, a claim which Sajedinia said, “I don’t confirm or deny anything in this regard.”
