Official dismisses reports Ayatollah Jannati is hospitalized

TEHRAN, Sept. 6 (MNA) - A Guardian Council official vehemently dismissed reports that Ayatollah Ali Jannati, the chairman of the Guardian Council, has been hospitalized due to a stroke.

“Just minutes ago I talked to Ayatollah Jannati. He is in completely healthy,” Abbass Ali Kadkhodai, the GC spokesman, told the Mehr News Agency.

Kadkhodai added that the Guardian Council was to meet on Monday at 10:00 a.m. with the presence of Ayatollah Jannati.

The GC spokesman said such rumors are intended to weaken the Islamic Republic system and deflect attention from major issues.

Since Sunday night certain anti-revolutionary groups have posted stories on their websites claiming that the Guardian Council chief is in Baghiatollah Hospital in Tehran due to brain death.
