Scholar Sirus Izadi passes away

TEHRAN, Sept. 5 (MNA) -- Iranian translator and researcher Sirus Izadi died here in Tehran on Friday, succumbing after a yearlong illness.

Izadi was residing in Russia for many years but moved to Germany in 1970s and chose to live there until last year when he decided to return home.

He traveled to Iran after the Islamic Revolution frequently and used to meet with cultural scholars for publication of his books.

He translated about 60 books from different languages, including Russian, German and English, into Persian.

Izadi also wrote articles in several magazines published in Iran for Iranians residing in foreign countries.

His funeral procession was held on Sunday morning in front of Tehran’s Vahdat Hall and he was buried in the Artists Section of Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery.
