New films welcome celebration of Id al-Fitr in Tehran

TEHRAN, Sept. 3 (MNA) -- Five new films premiered Thursday in Tehran’s theaters to enhance the observance of Id al-Fitr, the celebration marking the end of the month of Ramadan this week.

“A Little Mistake” by director Mohsen Damadi, “Carnival of Death” (Habibollah Kasehsaz), “A Pocket Full of Money” (Qodratollah Solh-Mirzaii), “Gentlefolk” (Mehrdad Farid) and “Distance” (Kamran Qadakchian) are the five movies currently on screen.

“A Little Mistake” is the second feature by Damadi made two years ago. Starring Mohammadreza Sharifinia, Amin Hayaii, Shila Khodadad, and Merlia Zarei, the movie explores a new genre of comedy.

“Carnival of Death” is the first movie by film producer Kasehsaz. Starring Bahram Radan, Faramarz Qaribian and Elnaz Shakerdust, the movie features the story of a chain saw murderer, who stalks a young married couple to kill them.

Comedy actor Reza Attaran in “Gentlefolk” signifies a comedy genre. The film narrates the tale of a journalist who is following a story on the subject of fortune telling when he suddenly finds himself entangled in the case.

The film reviews the hard job of the journalists and several reasons why some journalists choose to emigrate.

The 19th feature-length movie by Qadakchian “Distance” went on screen at Fajr Film Festival last year. It seems to be a different sort of movie by the director. Pejman Bazeghi, Elnaz Shakerdust and Faramarz Qaribian are among the members of the cast.

Another production with comedy actors, “A Pocket Full of Money”, has brought together actors Javad Razavian, Reza Shafieijam, Anahita Hemmati, Shohreh Lorestani, Ahmad Purmokhber and Yusef Sayyadi.
