Iran beats China in friendly

(MNA), Sept. 3 -- Iran football team defeated China in a friendly match in Zhengzhou, China on Friday.

In the match held at the Xinxiang Stadium, the Iranians managed to defeat the Chinese team 2-0.

Andranik Teymourian gave a lead to Afshin Ghotbi’s team with six minutes into the halftime when he found himself unmarked in the box and opened the goal.
Mohammad Gholami scored Iran’s second goal in the 59th minute to ease the strain on the Persians’ shoulders.
China put Iran under pressure afterwards and created so many chances but their strikers could not take advantage of them. They scored in the 70th minute but their goal was ruled out for offside.
Iran will play South Korea in Seoul on Tuesday.
“These kinds of warm up games will help us to find our best line up for the Asian Cup,” Afshin Ghotbi said.
It's been over 30 years since Iran last tasted international success, winning the last of what was three consecutive Asian Cup titles with victory at home in 1976.
Iran has been drawn along with Iraq, North Korea and the UAE in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
