Iran eliminated from FIBA World Championship

ISTANBUL, Sep. 3 (MNA) -- Iran basketball team was eliminated from the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

In the competition which is underway in Turkey, Iran failed to reach the next round after suffering four losses.

Iran lost to Slovenia 65-60 on Thursday night and was eliminated along with Tunisia from the tournament.
In Group B, Iran was beaten by Brazil 81-65 in its opener. The Persians lost to Croatia 75-54 in the second match. Veselin Matic’s team overpowered Tunisia 71-58 and was defeated by the U.S. 88-51.
China was the only Asian team which advanced to the knockout round.
