TEHRAN, June 28 (Mehr News Agency) – The statue in memory of Iranian photographer Kaveh Golestan, is to be constructed in Kurdistan (Iraq), where he was killed during the recent U.S. attack.

The director of Kurd Institute in Tehran said that faithful people of Kurdistan like art and they are to make the first post-war statue in commemoration of Golestan, since he was the person who reflected their hard times during the war throuhg his photographs.

Bahram Valadbeigi also added that in his recent trip to Kurdistan, he agreed with the Iraqi cultural officials to name a cultural center in memory of Golestan.

The institute is also determined to hold an exhibit in Kurdistan to display photographs by Golestan in the near future.

Golestan was killed on April 2, 2003 in a mine blast in Kurdistan, while he was photographing events with his camera.
